Clubs on Campus: Hmong Club

Ashley Hoang, Feature Editor

Bear Creek’s Hmong Club enriches students about the ancient history of their ethnic group, and culture. For the past three years, the Hmong club have had hand-made costumes, usually made by their older generation. The council, consisting of Kaetlyn Xiong as president, Lily Lor as vice-president, Natalie Vang as the secretary, and Mao Thao as the treasurer, creates their own unique dance; they base the moves after the lyrical meaning of the song with hand gestures being the focus of the dance. The club meets three times a week to practice girls and couples dance. On top of the weekly practices, Hmong club enjoys organizing picnic events and get-togethers to form a closer bond among the members.
