Lily Tran, Feature Editor

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them just came out this past weekend and in honor of new films set in the Wizarding World, I’ve decided to DIY a famous and popular wizarding drink: butterbeer!

You will need:
Measuring spoons/cups

Butterbeer Base
1 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp water
6 tbsp butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
Step 1: Combine brown sugar and water in a saucepan. Stir until it boils on medium.
Step 2: Add butter, vinegar, salt, and 1/4 cup of heavy cream. Once stirred in, let it cool.
Step 3: Pour a small layer of base into the bottom of each cup.

Butterbeer Froth
2 tbsp base (from above)
6 tbsp confectioners sugar/ powdered sugar
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

Step 1: Mix base, powdered sugar, and heavy whipping cream in a separate bowl.
Step 2: Whisk/ mix until thickened, but not whipped.

Frozen Butterbeer
Butterscotch topping syrup
Cream Soda

Step 1: Freeze cream soda to a mostly solid state.
Step 2: Put frozen cream soda in a blender and mix in butterscotch topping to a desired sweetness.
Step 3: Blend until slushy.

To serve: Add base to the bottom of a cup, pour 1/4 cup with regular cream soda, put frozen butterbeer over, then add froth.

Hot Butterbeer
2 cups milk
(maybe add some base into it and some cream soda)
6 tbsp butterscotch topping/syrup
4 tbsp brown sugar
Step 1: On medium heat, add milk, butterscotch topping, and brown sugar together.
Step 2: Stir and warm to desired heat.

To serve: (Add a layer of base at the bottom), add a layer of cream soda, Pour hot butterbeer in a mug, then add froth.

Whether you’re a Muggle/No-Maj, wizard, witch, goblin, dragon, house elf, ghost, or a fantastic beast, you can have some butterbeer this holiday season! Enjoy!
