Ray Rice incident reflective of domestic violence among athletes

Peter Ha, Staff Writer

September 19, 2014

People are people and will make mistakes. Some mistakes are simply not easily forgiven. Ray Rice and his domestic violence case is an example of a mistake he should have to live with forever, knowing this mistake cost him it all — his fans, job and dignity. The NFL should follow through with a permanent suspension of Rice from the league. Though great talent is being left behind, bad actions deserve consequences. Allowing Rice to return to work would only hinder the message the NFL is trying to send: domestic violence will not be tolerated.

For years Division I players across the country have stood by while colleges have reaped the rewards for the use of their names, images, and likenesses to add to their coffers. But in a game changing decision, those rules will be changing.

A tribute to Robin Williams

A tribute to Robin Williams

Natalia Gevara, Entertainment Editor

September 19, 2014

A terrible, terrible pain was prevalent in this one man’s life, and an image of him has been painted that will never fade from our memories, and that image will hopefully help motivate us to reach out to those who are also suffering, and even if we couldn’t rescue Robin Williams’ from his own demons, it’s not entirely too late. We can learn how to save others, for his sake.

One Fry at a Time

Emma Garcia, Online Editor

September 17, 2014

Think about it, cigarettes give you lung cancer, pot makes you lose brain cells, but fries? Fries are for the quick snack, to complete a lunch when you have no money for anything else, for single parents to keep their kids happy when not even the Frozen soundtrack will do, for late night cramming sessions, they’re there for us no matter what we’re feeling as we get to the drive-thru. If only they didn’t kill us.

Rerun hell /ˈrēˌrən hel/: When you are watching an entire series but because you are behind and the newest seasons aren’t on Netflix yet, you are stuck trying to record all of them so you can somehow eventually watch them in order (sometimes takes years).

Fourteen Days and Counting

We have 13 days, 6 hours, 40 minutes, and about 51 seconds. Until when? Until my head explodes. Until I put my headset on and have Maddie turn the house lights down, have Natalia fade out the music, and try to have the audience suspend their disbelief for an hour and a half, maybe two.

Coming into the 2014-2015 NFL season, the NFC West division looks to be the toughest division to play in, with the defending Super Bowl champions Seattle Seahawks, along with the San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams. During the off-season Seattle re-signed Richard Sherman who...

I am never leaving my room again. Two weekends ago, I decided to actually have a social life and go to the movies with my friend, Megan. We went to see The Giver, which had come out the day before. It was an early movie so there weren't many people in the theater. We got our popcorn, talked to the friendly...

We all have those mornings when you push the snooze button one too many times, those mornings when you realize that the shirt you were planning to wear is still in the hamper, those mornings when you just want to go to school in your pajamas. And it’s easy to throw on shorts and a tee shirt; they’re...

Dear Diary – 18 August, 2014

Laura Angle, Blogger

August 18, 2014

Dear Diary, It’s strange how days can go by without holding any significant meaning, and then other days hold such meaning that your world is turned upside-down. This is true for me about April 3, 2014, the day I found out I was pregnant. I remember it very clearly. I remember thinking that my...
